For Energy Companies, It's Time To Either Get Big Or Get Out
This week's WCTW article is going to be a bit different. It's going to dive into how I'm thinking about the landscape of the energy sector going forward, and what this implies for the energy companies (upstream).
In my view, there are three types of upstream companies out there today:
Blessed with multi-decade reserve lives (Meg Energy and Athabasca).
Integrated majors looking to grow in scale (Suncor, CNQ, Cenovus, Exxon, etc).
Small to medium-sized producers (sub-50k boe/d in production that lack both 1 and 2.
